Independent Technology Consultant, Perth
Evoltra Advisory provides independent technology consulting to organisations in Perth and across Western Australia. Independent means vendor-neutral: we hold no relationships with technology vendors, earn no commissions or referral fees, and have no implementation practice that benefits from recommending one product over another. Our only obligation is to the quality of the advice.
Most technology advice organisations receive comes from parties with a stake in the outcome. Vendors propose their own products. System integrators recommend platforms they are certified to implement. Managed service providers structure advice around their existing service catalogue. Each of these relationships produces advice that is shaped, consciously or not, by commercial incentive. Independent advisory removes that incentive from the equation.
The decisions where independence matters most are the ones with long consequences: selecting a platform the organisation will operate for a decade, committing to a vendor relationship that will be difficult to exit, approving a technology investment that will shape architecture for years. At these decision points, advice from someone with no stake in the outcome is structurally different from advice from someone who benefits from the decision going a particular way.
We work with boards, executives, and senior technology leaders in Perth and Western Australia on the technology decisions that carry the most consequence. Engagements are led by senior advisors, not handed off to junior consultants after an initial briefing. Work product is specific to the organisation's situation, not adapted from a methodology or framework that was built for a different client.
What we focus on
Technology strategy and roadmap
Clarity on technology direction, capability priorities, and the sequencing of investments. A strategy that translates business objectives into a technology plan that can be governed and executed.
Vendor and platform selection
Structured, independent evaluation of technology vendors and platforms. No vendor relationships. No preferred partners. Assessment based on fit, risk, total cost, and strategic alignment.
Technology decision review
Independent review of a specific pending technology decision: the options, the risks, and the basis on which the recommendation was reached. An external check before commitment.
Fractional CIO
Senior technology leadership on a retained or project basis for organisations that need CIO-level capability without a permanent hire. Strategy, governance, vendor management, and board reporting.

Common questions
What makes an independent technology consultant different from a consulting firm?
The key distinction is commercial independence. Large consulting firms have implementation practices, vendor alliances, and preferred partner arrangements that shape the advice they give, even when the advisory engagement is formally separate. An independent consultant has none of these relationships. The advice is not structured around what generates follow-on work for an implementation team or what fits an existing vendor partnership.
Do you work with organisations outside Perth?
Yes. We work with organisations across Western Australia and nationally. Our advisory work does not require ongoing on-site presence, so geography is not a constraint. Perth-based clients benefit from local availability for in-person engagements when that is useful, and we work with national clients remotely.
What size of organisation do you work with?
We work with mid-market and enterprise organisations across Western Australia: government agencies, healthcare providers, resources and mining services companies, professional services firms, and not-for-profits. The common factor is a technology decision with material consequences, not a minimum revenue threshold.
How is an engagement typically structured?
Most engagements are scoped to a specific decision or advisory need, with a defined output and timeline. We do not require long-term retainers to begin work. Initial discussions are obligation-free and help define whether there is a good fit between what the organisation needs and what we provide.
